Our first hire car
Up and our bags packed, a quick breakfast then did our imitation of pack mules to Paddington station in the drizzle, a couple of tickets for the Heathrow~Connect and about 30 min later we were hopping on the Europe car shuttle at Heathrow airport to wait in a queue with a few thousand people for the hire car we booked (ok, I exaggerate a little for dramatic effect but …), finally in our hire car we headed off towards Stonehenge.

Stonehenge
Passing Stonehenge on the road we soon see the eight pounds fee to get closer isn’t all that close we continue on to Bath our home for the next two nights.

Driving into Bath

Almost at our new home
Arriving in Bath at about 3pm the city looks amazing … after navigating narrow scary confusing little streets and driving past it three times we finally find our B&B … which is worth the wait, we are greeted with a cup of tea and a sit down chat about the B&B and some of the highlights of the town and a quick overview of the map.
We set straight off into town on foot (about 15 min walk), find the Roman Baths museum and spend a couple of hours perusing it (it was great !) then on to Bath Abbey followed by gelato in one of the town squares whilst being entertained by firstly an opera singer and then a guitarist (both great) then walked the town for a while before doing the “Bizarre Bath” comedy walking tour for an hour and a half (good for a laugh), now nine thirty we head up to a Spanish restaurant we spotted earlier that does a Paella for Two and a jug of Sangria for only twenty pounds (bargain!!! and it tasted great), finally with our bellies full and our bodies weary we trudged back up the hill to our temporary home ..
