After researching our options to go visit the windmills we hopped a train to Koog-Zaandijk…. we asked a couple of people when confirming our journey, each time we mentioned the location they all laughed and smiled “Ah so you want to see windmills”…

This beautiful place still has some working windmills and we walked through the small town and visited a couple of windmills that churn out different things such as spices and dye/pigment powder for painters to make paint from.

We then decided it would be far safer for us to cycle here than in town so we hopped on our bikes and did a tour of this small town.

On our bike journey we decided to stop at this little boutique cafe with magnificent food called De Groene Smaak (the green taste) and it was great taste more than green!!
