Up and out by 8.30 …
Added a few kms to our days walk by starting with a short tour of Pamplona.
Eventually after a bit of sign language from a friendly local we found that the entire route for the Camino through the city of Pamplona is marked every ten feet or so with a metal plaque with an engraving of a scallop shell which is the symbol of the Camino.
As we were leaving the city we met a fellow Peregrino named Fernanda from Sao Paulo Brazil whom we walked part of the days journey with.
Our first day on the Camino was grueling and we had to stop often due to the 30 degree heat … we swear they added extra mountains in just for us …
Late lunch was very nice at the Restaurant/Albergue Camino Del Perdon. We then pushed on to Obanos where at 5pm we decided to stop for the night.
Note: For any pilgrims reading this do NOT stop at the Albergue USA at Obanos there are much nicer ones just a little further …
After settling in we headed out to dinner, walked in to the local bar where a group of fellow pilgrims kindly asked us to join their table, nice bunch of people and a decent €12 cost for a 3 course pilgrim meal with wine good company and a few laughs later we headed back to the Albergue to compete in the all night snoring competition … lol
