Wanaka to Invercargill

We really liked Wanaka…hopefully we can revisit on our return trip…
On our morning walk we met a NZ guy, Deon, who gave us lots of good tips about what to see and where to eat in Invercargill. He also recommended a nice place for our morning coffee..which we enjoyed during our morning walk…

We took the long route to Invercargill, driving through Roxburgh and many other small country towns…at each turn of the rd we were met with Wow! views with the changing landscape….from the lush green hills to the dry mountains decorated with a layer of snow on its cap to the brilliant blue of the many rivers hugging the mountains

With no time to stop for lunch on the way…we quickly checked in to the motel in Invercargill and made our way to the Buster Crabb restaurant as per Deons recommendation.

The name is deceiving. .its not a seafood restaurant but named after the spy Lionel “Buster” Crabb which 007 character was based on …
The food was good!

We visited the Southland Art Gallery and Museum..very interesting displays of the South Maori culture, WW1 , the Antarctic, corrugated arts display and of course Buster Munro…the fastest little Indian.

Invercargill is cold..very very windy and hardly anyone on the streets..so we decided to only spend one night here..

Dinner at The Cabbage Tree was nice ..we shared a plate of venison and lamb..
