Driving through the Dolomites

Following breakfast we started our journey to the Dolomites. It’s a wet and dreary day but we will soldier on!!

There are many wonderful routes through the Dolomites, its hard to know which one to take. We decided to set out from Treviso to Belluno then on to Apode and stopping at Aleghe for a break along the beautiful lake. The roads were winding and the views amazing .

We stopped at a little church at Colle S Lucia and enjoyed the panoramic views

Our next stop, the Pordoi Pass, apparently the only Pass with open Funivia. We wanted to ride the cable cars but the fog was too thick so there was poor visibility We decided to hang around any way and play with the snow.

Disappointed that the fog didn’t lift enough to ride the Funivia, we headed to Cortina. A busy resort town catering for skiers and hikers depending on the season. May didn’t fit into any of those activities, so many shops were closed.

Then as the sun started to come up we made our way home to Treviso. A long 10 hr day that was filled with awesome views and winding roads, driving through 3 national parks; Dolomites National Park Bellini; Dolomite National Park d’Ampezzo and the Passo Giau National Park.
